چکیده

Bacterial adhesion onto hospital material surfaces still represents a big healthcare issue, being preventive measures required to mitigate this problem, such as increasing surface hydrophilicity. In the present study, gum Arabic, hydrophilic polysaccharide, was used modify of polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Initial water contact angle (WCA) and WCA after several washing cycles were studied response variables by 24 full factorial design. Several reaction parameters, time between Arabic PET, concentration, curing temperature for PET modification investigated. The most significant parameters found be time. optimized led reduction from 70° 27°. modified samples characterized using techniques including AFM, colorimetric, ATR-FTIR which further confirmed successful modification. Furthermore, bacterial assays have clearly shown that treated highly effective in preventing Escherichia coli expressing YadA, an adhesive protein Yersinia so-called adhesin. use design experiments allowed successfully attaining with high anti-adhesiveness, simple grafting approach.

Decolourization of Gum Arabic using Activated Charcoal

This research work is aimed at decolourizing gum Arabic using activated charcoal so as to improve the quality of gum Arabic before the use of additives on the gum Arabic. The experiment was conducted on laboratory scale, the filter fixed bed method was used and the adsorbent (activated charcoal) is a granular of 500μm mesh size. The pH, viscosity and transmittance of each solution were measured...

Gum Arabic: More Than an Edible Emulsifier

Gum Arabic (GA) or Acacia gum is an edible biopolymer obtained as exudates of mature trees of Acacia senegal and Acacia seyal which grow principally in the African region of Sahe in Sudan. The exudate is a non-viscous liquid, rich in soluble fibers, and its emanation from the stems and branches usually occurs under stress conditions such as drought, poor soil fertility, and injury (Williams & P...

Experimental Evaluation of Academic Collaboration Recommendation Using Factorial Design

Recommender systems have been used in e-commerce and online social networks. Among various challenges to construct such systems, how to parameterize them and their evaluations are two vaguely explored issues. Generally, each recommendation strategy has parameters and factors that can be varied. In this article, we propose to evaluate the impact of key parameters of two state-of-the-art function...
